General Summary:
The Trauma Program Nurse Manager analyzes and directs professional and support staff to ensure personnel, facilities, and organization system plans are in place for the trauma program at Bayhealth facilities and related data registries. The Trauma Program Nurse Manager will provide leadership for complex programs by communicating goals and strategies, providing direction and priorities and providing enthusiasm and support. The Trauma Program Nurse Manager will also develop relationships and systems to assure coordinated efforts between the hospital, emergency services, and the trauma region related to trauma.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintains oversight and evaluation of trauma registry data collection entry and processes to ensure compliance as stipulated by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
2. Develops, maintains and evaluates the professional nurses practice related to trauma assessment, management and intervention based upon current trauma practice standards.
3. Manage day-to-day operations of trauma programs and assure that performance standards for all staff are met.
4. Coordinates continuing education opportunities covering clinical, diversity, research and inter-department awareness.
5. Supports research and its integration into nursing administration and the delivery of nursing care.
6. ) Develops expense and capital budgets for trauma programs; monitor, evaluates and justify monthly budget expenditures and revenue.
7. Facilitates nursing and medical collaboration in the care of injured patients; serve as a liaison with in-house physicians and departments.
8. Participates in local, state, and national professional trauma care organizational activities.
9. Develops, maintains and evaluates information processes that promote desired, patient centered outcomes.
10. Maintains compliance with JCAHO standards; in addition to, all federal and state laws and regulations and Bayhealth policies.
11. Define and evaluate job responsibilities, priorities, qualifications and competencies of staff.
12. Actively oversees Bayhealth nursing leadership, organizational policy formation and the decision-making process utilizing a shared governance model.
13. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor Degree Nursing; Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program/university
- Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; Certification related to the position, if applicable.
- Experience: Required: 2 years supervisory experience in nursing and five years clinical experience in area of trauma. Preferred: Previous manager of the given specialty

- Education: Master Degree Nursing; Master Degree Health Care; Master Degree Business Administration
