What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Dependency Counselor position at BayMark Health Services?
The Substance Use Counselor will assist patients through medically assisted treatments and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients through medically assisted treatments and provide techniques for handling opioid addiction.
- Conduct individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies.
- Evaluate patients' progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to achieve overall outcomes.
- Provide individual and group counseling services, direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals, and coordinate all services throughout treatment.
- Facilitate, establish, and review initial treatment plans with each patient.
- Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
- Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans.
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma-informed manner.
- Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Possess an Ohio CDCA, LCDC II, LCDC III, or LICDC.
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred.
- Demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population.
- Understand EMR systems (electronic medical records).
- Pass a satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
