Mental Health Therapist Job Description
This position is responsible for providing individual, group, and family counseling sessions under the supervision of the Clinical Director and respective counselor supervisor. The primary job function involves conducting various types of clinical mental health activities, including diagnostic and assessment procedures based on qualifications and abilities.
The Mental Health Therapist will be performing tasks such as:
- Conducting daily individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions with clients.
- Performing various diagnostic and assessment procedures in accordance with ODMH/ODADAS/CARF standards.
- Coordinating various clinical activities.
- Assisting in monitoring care to ensure compliance with agency policies and making necessary reports to the counselor supervisor and/or Clinical Director.
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are essential for this position:
- Attend regularly scheduled executive committee meetings.
- Attend treatment staffing with prepared reports that accurately represent client responses to treatment.
- Serve on various committees for purposes of Quality Assurance.
- Conduct in-service training as assigned.
- Maintain contact with family members/guardians, referral sources, and authorized outside sources regarding client treatment activities/progress.
- Maintain documentation relative to caseload and program function.
- Meet with representatives from outside agencies for marketing, survey/audit, or informational purposes.
- Adequate knowledge and ability to navigate EHR (Electronic Health Record) system.
Minimum Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required for this position:
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, related field, or minimum degree and work experience in the field of Mental Health according to Ohio Counseling and Social Work Board requirements.
- Required licensure: LSW, LPC, or LCSW eligible.
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults with mental health diagnoses or related experience in the field.
- MUST demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen.
