Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Residential Counselor position include:
- Facilitating group and individual therapy sessions.
- Discussing client goals for treatment, including immediate and long-term objectives.
- Completing necessary documentation for compliance and client records in a timely fashion.
- Creating individualized Master Treatment Plans that guide clinical care and direction.
- Providing substantial client documentation through treatment plan updates, group notes, progress notes, discharge/transfer summaries, and utilization reviews.
- Participating in Performance Improvement initiatives and making adjustments as needed.
- Attending community education and marketing initiatives when requested.
- Participating in staffing meetings, trainings, and weekly clinical supervision.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a similar field.
- Prior experience in addiction counseling and/or substance abuse treatment is highly desirable.
- An attention to detail and commitment to completeness of all clinical notes and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check results.
