BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Senior Benefits Analyst serves as the main contact for Baystar’s extensive benefits programs, vendors, and employees. This role is critical in providing best-in-class health and welfare programs to our employees. This role will partner with various stakeholders including external carriers, brokers, and consultants to ensure programs are delivered effectively and efficiently and will apply analytical skills and understanding of system interfaces as they relate to benefit structure, focusing on identifying competitive enhancements and communicating the healthcare strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Facilitates the development, implementation, and administration of total rewards for employees
• Develops and maintains benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, health savings products, and 401(k)
• Leads day-to-day administration of company's benefits program including monitoring enrollments, conducting audits, benefits billing, tracking costs, HRIS reporting and providing information to the company brokers and vendors, as needed
• Evaluates, modifies and ensures benefit policies are competitive and in compliance with current legislation
• Fulfills all reporting requirements of relevant government rules and regulations for benefits programs, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
• Responsible for benefits design, conducting benefits analyses and working with Benefits Broker to review benefit plans and competitiveness
• Primary liaison for brokers and oversees vendor performance, proactively communicating expectations, and identifying areas for improvement
• Administer Baystar’s 401(k) program, including overseeing bi-weekly funding, payroll reconciliation and annual DOL audits
• Works closely with vendors to handle all compliance testing, non-discrimination testing for 401(k) and other company benefits
• Responsible for responding to inquiries and/or concerns from management and employees regarding existing benefits to ensure prompt, equitable and courteous resolution
• Manage leave management program, including but not limited to FMLA, short-term disability, long-term disability and parental leave
• Drives process improvement and documentation for benefits programs
• Deploys effective communication strategies and success metrics in partnership with the Communications Manager for Total Rewards programs
• Actively participates in benefits committee
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with progressive analytical processes with knowledge of 401K, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability programs
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience
• Certified Benefits Professional designation preferred
• Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
• Strong understanding of compensation, financial fundamentals, statistics, or cost analysis required
• Ability to make sound judgment with excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making ability
• Detail-oriented and precise with excellent organization skills
• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint); ability to develop presentations, advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and formulas required
• Demonstrated knowledge and clear understanding of compliance requirements, and federal and state regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, ACA, ADA, Medicare, Social Security, Safe Harbor, IRS and DOL requirements, FLSA, Wage and Hour
• Knowledge of benefit contract language
