Compliance Assistant:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Chief Compliance Officer in the execution of regulatory standards related to banking rules and regulations. This includes supporting the Chief Compliance Officer through research of banking regulations and laws, banking policies and procedures, consumer protection, and public interest laws.
Primary Responsibilities
· Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Bank’s compliance function; coordinating work within the department, as well as with other departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information. Essential duties include assisting in maintaining an adequate and effective Vendor Management, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Compliance Program. Assures the Bank conducts its operations in Vendor Management, AML/CFT and general compliance regulations as illustrated by the following:
· Stays current with changes regarding Vendor Management AML/CFT/ BSA/AML, OFAC and general compliance; determines effect of such laws and regulations on Bank policies, procedures and practices and recommends/ implements changes.
· Perform daily monitor and maintenance of the vendor management program including onboarding new vendors and existing vendor review.
· Ensures all vendors adhere to full onboarding process and requirements. Performs all necessary follow-ups and escalations to ensure timely execution.
· Prepares program status reports regarding the vendor management program.
· Assists with maintenance and periodic reviews of the Bank’s training program.
· Assists with managing internal controls to ensure compliance with BSA/AML regulations. This includes suspicious activity reporting throughout the Bank’s functional areas and across product and service offerings.
· Performs daily monitoring to identify suspicious activity and recommends SARs as necessary. Creates and compiles required documentation.
· Assists in the oversight of high-risk customer relationships, including monitoring, documentation, and enhanced due diligence (EDD).
· Assists in the oversight and monitoring of procedures regarding large currency transaction reporting, including reviewing currency transaction reports (CTRs), following up on missing information, and filing the CTR
· Reviews exempt account activity; monitors and reviews currency transaction reports and monetary instrument forms; maintains complete and accurate records of reviews.
· Performs FINCEN OFAC reporting.
· Manage files and documentation and perform special projects as needed.
Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years of related experience.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Strong analytical and research skills.
· Developed PC skills including proficiency and capability in word processing and spreadsheet software.
· Ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to maintain the confidentiality of Customer information.
· Good interpersonal skills and team orientation.
