POSITION SUMMARY:
The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding general payroll questions and requests.
- Assist in preparing payroll reports to facilitate the payroll processing workflow. This includes, but is not limited to, data entry, calculating wages and deductions, verifying timekeeping records, and other related tasks.
- Support the stale check process, including tasks such as sending follow-up emails, making phone calls, and tracking responses.
- Help with managing tip make-up emails.
- Assist in the validation, verification, and delivery of W2 forms.
- Support the garnishment process and ensure proper documentation and communication.
- Aid in the filing and organization of tax-related documentation.
- Assist with generating payroll reports as needed.
- Open, sort, and distribute incoming payroll-related mail to the appropriate team members.
- Ensure all payroll-related activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
- Recognize and adhere to legal and procedural requirements specific to payroll responsibilities.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information, ensuring privacy is protected and access is restricted to only necessary job-related details.
- Support various monthly, quarterly, and yearly related cyclical tasks related to various periods.
- Support other payroll staff as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Education:
Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent education required. Associate's degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year of data entry or similar experience is required. Experience in a Payroll, HR or Accounting Department is preferred.
Skills/Competencies/Certifications:
- PC proficiency in a Windows environment to include specialized payroll software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Superior technical aptitude and data entry skills with excellent planning, detail orientation and organization.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple projects, adjust to changing workflow and workload accordingly.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with private/sensitive information.
- Effective problem solving and reasoning abilities.
- Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer.
- Superior interpersonal and organizational skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in an environment with many interruptions.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
