A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced ERISA / Employee Benefits Partner to join its Employment and Labor Practice in Chicago, IL. Duties
Lead the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements
Advise on health and welfare benefits, including structuring and compliance for self-funded and fully insured plans, IRC §125 cafeteria plans, VEBAs, and other consumer-driven plans (FSAs, HRAs, HSAs)
Provide counsel on regulatory compliance with ERISA, IRC, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, and COBRA
Draft, review, and negotiate benefit plan documents, policies, and contracts
Collaborate with Employment and Labor team members to provide integrated client support in benefits management and risk mitigation
Support business development and client relationship-building (a portable book of business is advantageous but not required)
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience in ERISA and employee benefits law
Proficiency in health and welfare benefits structuring and compliance
Strong drafting, negotiation, and regulatory analysis skills
Education
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications
Licensed Attorney in good standing in Michigan or Illinois, or eligible for admission by examination or waiver
Skills
Expertise in ERISA, IRC, and employee benefits regulations
Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
Proactive communication and client service skills
