Position: Director of Fabric R&D
Responsibilities:
- Liaises with all mills each season, requesting new developments and making selections for the design teams when mills visit the office.
- Works closely with the design teams to identify sourcing for requested qualities and develop new qualities from store-bought samples.
- Responsible for collaborating with the team to create fabric lists and requests for showroom sampling.
- Purchases and utilizes fabric in a way that minimizes waste and maximizes value by carefully considering the project requirements, choosing the right fabric type, optimizing cutting patterns, and utilizing leftover scraps to minimize overall fabric costs while still achieving the desired quality in the final product
- Oversees a team of 2 individuals, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills, strong follow-through, and excellent communication abilities.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in Fabric R&D.
- Exhibits a strong work ethic, leadership skills, high energy level, organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
- Possesses strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experienced in sourcing from China, India, Korea, and Taiwan for both woven and cut-and-sew knit fabrics. Possesses a strong understanding of fabrics and quality.
- Knowledgeable in fabric costing and adept at reducing prices when necessary.
- Capable of multitasking and working cross-functionally with multiple teams.
- Able to work independently and as a team player
- A collaborative team player who can effectively work with multiple design teams, each with distinct needs, price points, and aesthetics.
- Capable of effective correspondence with overseas factories
The salary range for this full-time position ranges from $130,000-$160,000, depending on applicant's level of experience.
