SUMMARY:
General Responsibilities:
The Director of Operations will lead the overall growth strategy for BCS and the Operations department. The Director of Operations is responsible for the successful management and leadership of the controls, equipment and service departments. This includes financial planning, setting and achieving strategic goals that supports sales goals, and actively developing and implementing operational policies and procedures. The Director of Operations will also recommend and implement appropriate action plans to optimize processes, maximize employee talents and achieve outstanding customer and employee satisfaction. Regularly communicates strategies, plans, performance and conditions to all of leadership and direct reports.
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Direct reports: Controls and Equipment Team Leads, Controls Field Manager, Service Manager
Direction:
- Minimal supervision.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
50% Develop and manage Controls, Equipment and Service departments and provides satisfaction to customers.
- Develop the leadership within the department through coaching and mentoring by actively listening, asking questions to assist in strategic growth and succession planning.
- Promote company culture that encourages top performance and high morale based on BCS mission, vision and values.
- Develops and ensures that quality standards are maintained, for processes and functions.
- Manage and promote relationships with external partners and vendors as necessary.
- Maintain outstanding customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, processes, implementation, advising corrective and communicating to better assist customers and manufactures.
- Responsible for staying up to date on external market conditions and internal requirements related to the Operations department.
- Assist in the recruitment, development, retention and promotion for the Operations department.
- Enriches and deepens customer relationships though visiting customer sites during construction projects and service calls to make sure work is accurate, timely, expectations are met, customer has received proper communication, and customer is 100% satisfied.
- Holds operations team accountable for meeting/exceeding estimated costs.
- Service as a key member of executive leadership team and participate in pivotal decision as the relate to strategic initiatives
30% Develop and implement finances, policies, procedures and strategic goals.
- Continuously look for ways to become more efficient and work with COO to implement and review operational policies and procedures to optimize the efficiency of the Operations department.
- Responsible for adhering and enforcing policies, planning and strategy decisions for BCS and the Operations department.
- Assist with risk management and project management for the Operations department.
- Supports sales strategic short and long-range objectives by aligning operations goals, personnel and job performance.
- Responsible for financial review, including budgets, profitability, performance analytics, and interpreting data. Including but not limited to construction and service labor loading, hiring, layoffs/termination, projections, forecasting, improving operational efficiencies, timeliness of service, customer satisfaction, etc.
- Review and approve contracts
20% Manages Operations ongoing training and development.
- Input in training path for all operations staff,
- Assists in mentoring and developing others in all aspects of the Operations department.
- Studies literature and attends seminars to keep current in products, processed and materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business or related field experience.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC industry or related field.
- Strong knowledge of building automation, HVAC concepts, and operations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles, including: Supply chain, purchasing, finance, customer service, etc.
- Knowledge of industrys legal rules and guidelines.
- Familiar with MS Office and other various business software (ERP, CRM, etc.).
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operations metrics.
- Ability to build rapport and strengthen relationships with managers and employees.
- Great planning and project management skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Organized with an attention to detail.
- Proven track record of leading and developing others.

Other Requirements
- Requires travel to and from job sites, primarily within the local area and Kansas.
- Requires occasional overnight stays
