Job Summary

BDA is seeking a visionary and technically adept Ecommerce Solutions Architect to join our team. This role is critical in shaping the long-term strategic direction of our ecommerce platform and ensuring that the technology supports our business goals effectively. As an Ecommerce Solutions Architect, you will lead the design and development of scalable and future-proof ecommerce solutions, drive innovation, and align technical solutions with overall business strategy. You will collaborate closely with business leaders to ensure our ecommerce platforms are positioned for growth, efficiency, and an exceptional customer experience.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Strategic Ecommerce Platform Vision & Leadership:
  
  

Develop and articulate a long-term strategic vision for the ecommerce platform in alignment with business objectives. Lead the architectural direction to ensure scalability, security, and flexibility, enabling the platform to evolve with changing market demands.

• Solution Strategy & Consulting:
  
  

Work alongside senior leadership to define and execute the technical roadmap for ecommerce initiatives. Provide strategic advice on platform selection, cloud infrastructure, integration frameworks, and third-party technology solutions that align with business growth and customer engagement goals.

• Innovation & Competitive Advantage:
  
  

Identify emerging trends and technologies within the ecommerce landscape and propose forward-thinking solutions to drive innovation. Keep the business ahead of the competition by implementing new features and services that enhance user experience, streamline operations, and increase conversions.

• Business-Aligned Technical Design:
  
  

Translate complex business requirements into actionable, well-architected technical solutions. Ensure that the platform supports key business functions such as personalized marketing, customer segmentation, inventory management, and omnichannel experiences.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  

Serve as a key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders. Collaborate with product managers, marketing, and IT teams to translate business goals into technical requirements. Maintain strong communication to ensure alignment across departments on strategic objectives.

• Scalability & Performance Optimization:
  
  

Ensure the ecommerce platform is designed to scale and perform effectively during high traffic volumes, peak seasons, and global expansion. Address both technical and business challenges to enhance system reliability and improve overall user experience.

• Governance & Best Practices:
  
  

Establish and enforce best practices for ecommerce solution architecture, including guidelines for security, data integrity, and compliance. Provide technical leadership and governance to ensure high standards in all aspects of the ecommerce ecosystem.

• Change Management & Process Improvement:
  
  

Lead the change management process for evolving ecommerce strategies and platforms. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance system automation, and optimize the customer journey.

• Documentation & Training:
  
  

Document the strategic architecture, platform configurations, and design principles. Provide training to internal stakeholders on the latest solutions and strategies, ensuring that the team is empowered to support ongoing initiatives.

• Enterprise Architecture:
  
  

Lead Enterprise Architecture discussions with a group of solution architects and technology leaders. The charter of the Enterprise Architecture group is to explore and identify new shared solution patterns and opportunities. Operate an architectural review process, driving security and compliance consideration into any new solution. Evaluate existing systems and solutions, minimize business risks and maintain core Enterprise Architecture artifacts.

• Team Leadership:
  
  

You would manage a team of developers, designers, QA engineers, and other technical resources. This involves recruiting, mentoring, and retaining talent, as well as fostering collaboration. Conducting performance reviews, ensuring training for team members, and promoting continuous learning in line with new eCommerce trends, technologies, and tools. Ensuring that the right resources (people, tools, skills) are assigned to the right projects and tasks to meet deadlines.

• Expertise in ecommerce platforms, web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), microservices, and enterprise-level integrations
• Strategic mindset with experience in aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and KPIs
• Proficiency in DevOps practices, CI/CD, and modern software development methodologies
• Experience with ecommerce marketing tools, personalization engines, and data analytics platforms
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, a related field (Master’s degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in ecommerce architecture, digital transformation, and technology strategy.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale ecommerce platform implementations and integrations.
• Experience in shaping technical strategy to drive business outcomes and support organizational goals.
• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, ecommerce platforms, or enterprise architecture (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, Magento Certified Solutions Specialist) are a plus.
  
  

We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $180,000. If you are hired at BDA, your compensation will be determined based on factors that may include geographic location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any offer. In the spirit of pay transparency, the range listed is the full base salary range for the role and hiring at the top of the range would not be typical, in order to allow for future salary growth. The range listed is just one component of BDA’s total compensation and rewards programs, which includes: robust PTO; vacation, a paid volunteer day, holidays and summer Fridays, Benefits; medical, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance, 401k; tuition reimbursement, mental health and financial wellness programs and professional development opportunities including tuition reimbursement. Certain revenue-generating positions may be eligible for incentive compensation.
