Job Summary:
The Managing Director, Digital Transformation & Innovation (DT&I) Development manages and establishes the underlying fusion teams to create technology solutions that deliver value to the BDO tax practice and its clients. The role will also serve as the principal architect for platform technologies.
Job Duties:
Tax Technology Business Strategy
- Collaborates with DT&I leadership and executive steering committee to define and execute on tax technology business strategy
- Oversees architecture, engineering and development of DT&I product portfolio
- Collaborates with the product management team to develop and execute a strategic technology roadmap in alignment with company goals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions
- Defines and maintains the standards, processes and procedures necessary to maintain product quality and deliver expected business capabilities and value
Fusion Team Leadership
- Designs, builds and leads technology development teams with professionals who can excel in a cross-disciplinary environment, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability
- Drives the further growth and professional development of team members
- Strategically determines resource needs and staffing to deliver on DT&I products
- Collaborates with BDO National IT around governance, infrastructure and security
- Collaborates with BDO Global and BDO international member firms in the creation, maintenance and deployment of global solutions
- Manages vendor and partner relationships to support development efforts
Architecture and Management of Product Portfolio
- Oversees the development of product portfolios, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, meets quality standards, requirements/business needs and expected values
- Serves as the principal architect for platform-level solutions, designing scalable, maintainable, and secure architectures for complex systems
- Applies customer experience and problem-solving skills to clarify requirements and validate initiatives
- Stays abreast of emerging technology trends and evaluates their applicability to our goals
Risk Management
- Ensures compliance with software development best practices and industry standards, particularly in security and data protection
- Ensures team's and products compliance with all applicable risk and security standards and policies
- Ensures all DT&I products remain compliant with applicable service level agreements (SLAs)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Acts as a direct supervisor to team members, as assigned
- Acts as a career advisor and mentor as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, required; with a focus in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or Mathematics, preferred
Experience:
- Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the technology field, required
- Five (5) or more years of experience in a leadership role, managing development teams, required
- Experience delivering multinational technology solutions, preferred
- Experience interacting with client business leaders and IT personnel, preferred
- Experience working with a multinational remote team, preferred
- Experience developing and launching successful enterprise and/or SAAS products, preferably in the tax and accounting industry, preferred
- Deep understanding of software architecture and engineering principles and patterns (e.g., microservices, serverless), preferred
- Experience with agile and waterfall development methodologies and managing projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, preferred
Software:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
- Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL), preferred
- Expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript) and frameworks, preferred
- Expertise in Azure DevOps and ServiceNow, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
National Range: $380,000 - $420,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $380,000 - $420,000
Washington DC Range: $380,000 - $420,000
Salary : $380,000 - $420,000
