As BE&E enters our next growth phase, we are looking to expand our Engineering Department. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to aid in our design capabilities. Growth opportunities are available.
BE&E is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of bulk material handling equipment. Industries we serve include forest products, wood pellets, biomass energy, biofuel, waste processing, recycling, and more.
Working in partnership with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, utilizing a $16.2 million grant to establish a 76,000 sq ft manufacturing campus in Muhlenberg County.
Reports to:
· Engineering Manager through daily communication, weekly status updates, project reports, and engineering meetings.
Primary Function:
As a Design Engineer, you will be crucial in designing and developing concepts into detailed drawings used for sales, manufacturing, and construction. Your expertise in CAD modeling, attention to detail, and mechanical knowledge will contribute to the success of our projects.
A successful Design Engineer demonstrates a self-motivated attitude and the ability to take initiative in completing assigned duties with minimal guidance. This individual will excel by demonstrating expertise in concepts, designs, Bills of Materials, and drawings.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop detailed designs for mechanical components.
· Sketch and create designs using input from sales quotes, other engineers, and manufacturing personnel on the team.
· Calculate factors like tolerance, gear motor power requirements, dimensions, and structural analysis using finite element analysis (FEA).
· Prepare drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs), finalize designs, and send prints to the production department.
· Support equipment production by solving design and process-related issues.
· Manage engineering change orders (ECO) to ensure quality and documentation control.
· Use feedback and data to upgrade, improve, or repair the company's existing equipment.
· Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that all machines are built properly and according to design specifications.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
· 3 years' experience in an engineering role or related experience.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· CAD knowledge (SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD 2D)
· Document & Revision Control (SolidWorks PDM)
· Knowledge of engineering drawing standards (ANSI, ISO, GD&T)
· Ability to enter equipment BOMs and specifications into ERP/MRP software (E2, Epicor)
· Strong mathematical skills, and ability to understand mechanical properties.
· Flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to change.
Requirements:
· Work on-site in Greenville, KY (40-hour minimum per week: 5x8, or 4x10 Hour Shifts
· Ability to travel multiple times a year (Up to 10% annually)
· Must have a valid driver’s license/passport.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year, negotiable based on experience.
