PATTERN is looking for a passionate, motivated, organized, and highly artistic individual to join our team as Creative Director, reporting to the CMO and working hand-in-hand with our visionary founder, who leads the brand identity. As the Creative Director this person will play a critical role in helping to shape and maintain the brand identity, developing creative and overseeing brand consistency across all channels and markets. The ideal candidate will be someone who is immersed in creativity and design across multiple mediums and knows how to interpret marketing initiatives into a unified design narrative. This person must be a designer at heart with hands-on design experience that is aligned with the modern and sophisticated aesthetic of PATTERN. This person should have a deep understanding of the beauty landscape, be an excellent communicator, have a strong eye for detail, and have their own network of creative experts (designers, photographers, retouchers, etc.). This role is executional and entails a high volume of asset production, along with leadership and strategic planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and develop a large range of mixed media projects including multi-channel, multi-screen advertising campaigns, new product packaging and visual merchandising, digital-first assets across DTC and retailers, corporate initiatives, social toolkits, and more
  • Maintain brand visual identity, ensuring all elements of the visual story are cohesive across all areas
  • Lead a talented team of creative professionals to conceptualize, develop, and execute innovative and on-brand creative strategies
  • Develop branding campaigns from concept to execution and lead creative strategy, concept development and project execution with a high level of excellence
  • Partner with producers and designers to guide projects towards intended goals
  • Serve as strategic creative lead; assume accountabilities for all aspects of the design department as it relates to trends, branding, marketing collateral
  • Develop big creative ideas for full funnel campaigns across multiple channels
  • Maintain creative team budget
  • Pro-actively collaborate with teams to build and analyze creative performance across functions
  • Set high creative standards, clear expectations, and individual accountability for each team member
  • Prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment for self and direct reports.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 years of professional experience working in creative/art direction, with hands on graphic design experience
  • 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience
  • Must have experience working with a creative founder with an understanding of how to drive and execute their vision
  • Must be a strong communicator, able to work closely with senior leadership to strategize creative
  • Understand the landscape of digital media and marketing techniques
  • Experience working on and providing creative direction on videography and photography
  • Advanced level of experience with all required creative suite software
  • Strong leadership and team building abilities required to provide guidance and mentoring to direct reports and work with departments throughout the organization
  • Must possess best-in-class ‘hands-on’ photo art direction and design experience to periodically produce high profile projects themselves
  • Strong connections in the beauty and or fashion community [i.e.- photographers, stylists, makeup artists, set designers, model agencies and producers
  • Excellent presentation skills are required to interact with marketing personnel in the development of marketing strategies and materials
  • Must have strong written communication skills to guide internal and freelance staff, and to interface and negotiate with individuals across the company and externally, including vendors and contractors
  • Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in Art, Design, Graphic Design, Fine Art
  • A team player, you contribute positively to team dynamic, cultivate passion and productivity
  • You are solutions driven and an efficiency advocate as well as having an all-hands-on deck mentality
  • A strong track record of building cross functional relationships and working in collaborative environments
  • Strong design skills including typography, layout, photo editing and compositing
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) and presentation software (PPT, Keynote)
  • Familiarity with team-based project management software (e.g., Asana) and web software (e.g., WordPress)

Salary Range: $185k to $190k annually
