- Typically has 10 years of State of Florida governmental accounting work experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
The Department is seeking two (2) full-time, on-site Business Analysts
A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, or other related field, with 10 years of State of Florida governmental accounting work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis, when applicable.
Requires the following experience, skills, and / or knowledge for this position :
1. Extensive experience in the State of Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) with usage and transactions, ledger management, and financial reporting;2. Proven knowledge of the State of Florida chart of accounts (i.e., usage, correlation);3. Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);4. Proven ability analyzing and reconciling FLAIR accounting data, including but not limited to analyzing and reconciling data between different sources of information at any of the 29-digit account code stream levels and general ledger balances;5. Ability to quickly analyze large sets of complex accounting data using different technical skills and tools for identification of data inconsistencies;6. Extensive experience resolving data inconsistences, investigating the cause, and proposing corrective actions;7. Ability to create tools for effective and accurate correction of inconsistencies; and
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines.
NOTE : In addition to the above list, the selected Candidate must successfully complete a Level II Background Check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
The Department prefers the Candidate to have the following experience, skills, and / or knowledge for this position :
1. Experience in governmental accounting and financial reporting within the State of Florida;2. Experience with financial reporting reconciliations such as central and departmental records reconciliation;3. Advanced Excel knowledge, including creating macros and using advanced functions;4. Programming experience with the ability to create scripts to upload data easily;5. Experience preparing accounting entries using transaction TR10;6. Prior experience in data cleansing;7. Experience in requirements gathering, data analysis, design, development, testing, or implementation of financial management system(s);8. Experience working in team environments as a leader or as a member;9. Experience performing business analysis functions, collaborating independently within a diverse cross-functional team, and engaging with subject matter experts, business users, or stakeholders to collect information;10. Ability to provide effective communication and collaborative skills; and
11. Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
SCOPE OF WORK / JOB CHARACTERISTICS :
The Business Analyst will assist F&A with Florida Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Planning (PALM) operations. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows :
Generate and manage data analysis, data cleanup, data conversion, and other task as required for the position;Analyze extensive datasets and propose corrective actions; andReconcile financial data, recording or adjusting accounting entries to verify accurate categorization of receivables, payables, revenue, assets, cash, grants, payroll, disbursements, contracts, and projects.
