Role: Deputy Treasurer

Wage: $20-25/hr, Commensurate with Experience
Bear Creek Township is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join the Treasurer’s Office as the Deputy Treasurer. Under the supervision of the Treasurer, you will perform administrative duties that support the smooth and efficient operation of the Treasurer’s Office. This role requires a high level of organization, dedication and attention to detail. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Treasurer with their duties as assigned, which can include but is not limited to those listed below:
- Collects real and personal property taxes
- Keeps an account of township
receipts (revenues) and expenditures
- Disburses township checks
- Deposits in township revenues in approved depositories
- Invests township funds in approved investment vehicles
- Collects delinquent personal property tax and BLL (buildings on leased land)
- Responsible for jeopardy assessments in collecting delinquent personal property tax
- Collects mobile home specific tax (Chalet Estates, Sun Community and Pine Pond)
Qualifications:
· Associate’s degree required, higher preferred.
· Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.
· Experience in financial and/or accounting roles, ideally in a municipal, or related setting.
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
· Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Resident-focused attitude with the ability to maintain professionalism in interactions with the public.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving regulations, technologies, and departmental needs.
