Position: Deputy Treasurer
Department: Treasurer
Pay Range: Full-time with benefits, starting at $19.03/hour
Position Summary
The Deputy Treasurer reports to the County Treasurer and is responsible for collecting money for delinquent property taxes, receipting in deposits, balancing, and maintaining records, preparing reports, issuing dog licenses, collecting, and opening mail, answering questions at the counter and over the phone, supporting general office functions, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Answers phones and gives information to callers, takes messages, or transfers calls to appropriate individuals,
- Greets customers or callers and handles their inquiries or directs them to the appropriate person,
- Processes cash, credit card, and check payments,
- Balances payments at the end of the day,
- Reviews and processes all applications for dog licenses,
- Creates, maintains, and enters information into databases,
- Uses a computer for various applications such as database management,
- Operates office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, typewriters, and a phone system,
- Manages paper and electronic filing systems,
- Opens, reads, and distributes incoming mail or other materials to appropriate Treasurer staff,
- Proofreads documents, records, or other files to ensure accuracy,
- Other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma or Equivalent

Job Location / Working Conditions
This position is based in a climate-controlled office environment which may require long periods in a stationary position. May be required to operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy/fax machine, phone, or printer. May be required to lift/move up to 25 pounds. Occasional travel to and from various county locations may be required.
