Job Summary
As a Fleet Manager, this person is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and management of a company's fleet of vehicles. This role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, and ensuring that all fleet vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards. The Fleet Manager plays a crucial role in minimizing vehicle downtime, ensuring it operates efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Job Responsibilities
Budget Management:
· Develop and manage the fleet budget, including costs related to fuel, maintenance, insurance, tags, inspections, leasing, and more.
Fleet Maintenance and Repair:
· Installs, removes, rebuilds, repairs, and services power-driven machines and equipment, including but not limited to, Bulldozers, Track hoes, Loaders, Backhoes, Blades etc. that are diesel operated. Must be familiar with hydraulic-operated machinery.
· Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in fleet vehicles, including heavy equipment, Tractor trucks, and domestic fleet pickups.
· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and fluid level checks.
· Overhaul and repair major vehicle components, including engines, transmissions, and drivetrains.
Diagnostics:
· Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues and assess overall performance.
· Interpret diagnostic data to determine the necessary repairs or maintenance actions.
Compliance and Safety:
· Ensure that all maintenance and repair work comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
· Conduct safety inspections and ensure all vehicles meet state and federal regulations.
Record Keeping:
· Manage work order system.
· Fleet allocating time.
· Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and vehicle conditions.
· Track vehicle service history and schedule preventive maintenance tasks to avoid breakdowns.
· Optimize vehicle usage, track fuel consumption, and manage vehicle acquisition and disposal.
Customer Service:
· Communicate with team members to understand vehicle issues and provide clear explanations of repair needs and costs.
· Provide accurate estimates and timelines for repairs and maintenance.
Inventory Management:
· Monitor and manage parts inventory to ensure the availability of necessary components for repairs.
· Order and procure parts as needed while managing costs effectively.
Team Collaboration:
· Work with other technicians and team members to resolve complex issues and complete repairs efficiently.
· Participate in training and professional development to stay current with advancements in vehicle technology and repair techniques.
Emergency Response:
· Provide roadside assistance and emergency repairs as needed to minimize vehicle downtime and disruptions.
· Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
· Adhering to deadlines
· Promoting a safe work environment and maintaining a clean and organized work area
· Great attention to detail is required
· Reporting any issues to the supervisor/manager
· Any other task requested by the supervisor/ manager
Job Skills & Requirements
· 3 years minimum in Heavy Dirt Equipment such as Bulldozers, Track hoes, Loaders, Backhoes, Blades etc.) and Truck tractor repair experience
· Trade School in Diesel Tech, Apprentice Program or military experience preferred. Certified diesel mechanic with heavy machinery experience is desired.
· Ability to lift 75 lbs.
· Love and enjoy working indoors and at times in austere locations
· Ability to follow instructions.
· Excellent time management skills.
· Always adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
· Ability to read and interpret technical procedures
· Must be a self-starter, reliable, and come with a good and humble attitude

· Advanced Math knowledge.
· Clean MVR, background, and drug screening.
· Valid driver's license. CDL is a plus.
