Summary/Objective
The service technician is responsible for the self-directed effective repair of equipment at high levels of quality while exceeding customer expectations.
Essential Functions

- Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble and service equipment according to technical manuals in a timely manner, as assigned by the Service Manager.
- Document machine information and repairs completed on work orders including parts and fluids.
- Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines and equipment.
- Maintain technical and product knowledge on all equipment serviced by the dealership.
- Safely operate all machines marketed by the dealership.
- Assist other service technicians as required by the Service Manager.
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships with coworkers, management, and vendors with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and the employee handbook.
- Participate in all company driven communication efforts including department meetings, electronic communications (email and text) and other related efforts.
- Proactively seek and participate in available company sponsored training to develop skills and knowledge.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance according to department and company policies.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a service shop setting and is exposed to outside weather conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, bend and stoop. The employee is frequently required to lift or carry up to 20 lbs., walk, reach above, push and pull and use hands and fingers for fine manipulation. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift and carry up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear at moderate noise levels.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel
Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Job Requirements
Excellent mechanical skills
Three or more years of service technician experience preferred
Graduation from related diesel technology program preferred
Trade specific tooling including hand tools and pneumatic tools
Excellent customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment
Ability to use personal computers and various types of diagnostic equipment
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurements using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
