Summary: This position is responsible for providing accounting and advisory services to clients, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and offering strategic support to assist clients in achieving their financial goals. This entry-level role involves assisting with a variety of accounting functions and supporting the team with client-facing engagements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other applicable standards.
- Help ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Conduct basic financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Support the preparation of financial reports for clients and assist in presenting key findings.
- Provide basic recommendations for improving financial performance and compliance.
- Assist with client communications and help address routine client inquiries related to accounting or financial concerns.
- Maintain supporting documentation and assist in month-end and year-end closings.
- Assist with preparing tax filings, including corporate and individual returns.
- Help ensure clients meet local, state, and federal compliance requirements.
- Support the team with various regulatory deadlines.
- Work closely with senior accountants, managers, and other team members to manage client accounts.
- Attend and participate in client meetings, providing support where needed.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the CAASS department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented & ability to multi-task.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.
- year’ experience in public accounting audit experience, preferred.
- Experience in governmental accounting, preferred.
- Experience in client advisory or consulting services, preferred.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands and Work Environment:
- This job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time, working on a computer.
- Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Travel is required.
Work Schedule:
- Typically, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
- Additional hours are required during peak season.
- 10-15% travel is expected for this position.
