    POSITION PURPOSE:
    To create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment for students to promote a culture of learning. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students. Prepare, administer and evaluate tests and classroom assignments following curriculum guidelines. Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic difficulties, or special academic interests.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Model how to program and build structurally sound robots using the LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Kit, and support groups of students in building and programming their own.
    • Teach elementary school students the principles of Robotics including the functions of power source, sensors, motors and structural members of a robot.
    • Document the students' individual and group progress throughout the program.
    • Support students during independent homework time
    ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have a valid South Carolina teaching or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
    • Must be Highly Qualified in the content area or be able to become Highly Qualified within 60 days from being hired.
    • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of LEGO robotics, problem-solving skills, and simple computer programming skills.
    • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work with elementary-aged children in a co-teaching capacity.
    • Computer science/math/science/engineering background and/or experience with robotics preferred.
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Must have completed a program of study in education from an accredited college or university.
