What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Director position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and direct facility management projects and performs all aspects of contract administration and project management. Assist the director in providing all facilities life cycle management services. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Manages projects from conception to completion. This includes maintaining notes, documents and reoccurring updates of projects as they unfold.
- Leads the planning, organization, and direction of facility management projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Ensures county facilities meet current ADA and regulatory requirements as well as health, security, and environmental standards.
- Allocates and manages facility spacing for maximum efficiency.
- Directs all aspects of contract administration and project management, ensures projects are completed on time, within budget and to required quality standards.
- Conduct research and analysis to recommend and develop sustainability initiatives and energy conservation measures, contributes to the commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Provide support in budget preparation and maintenance, assisting in the financial planning and allocation of resources for Facility Management projects and initiatives.
- Assists in developing and implementing asset management strategies for the department, ensuring effective utilization and maintenance of facilities assets.
- Champions and spearheads current and or new software and other tools in which the department utilizes for better and more efficient operational performances.
- Conducts and attends routine scheduled meetings.
- Effectively delegates workload to subordinates and encourages them to do the same in order to enhance departments ability to manage and accomplish more effectively.
- Provides updates to senior management, elected officials, and various community groups and agencies.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in business or any field other than engineering or the hard sciences.
- Over four years and up to and including eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Salary : $90,220 - $117,267
