What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Intern (Bluffton Library) position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The goal of this internship is to support the Youth Services staff at Bluffton Branch Library with running the annual Summer Reading program and related activities and events. The selected intern will also have the opportunity to participate in outreach events and help with the daily operations of the library as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
As a Youth Services Assistant Intern you will:- Assist with Summer programs and related activities as needed, including setup, materials preparation, crowd control, and cleanup.
- Assist patrons in use of public computers, Wi-Fi, and other library technology.
- Assist circulation staff with tasks such as checking in materials, preparing items for transit, and pulling requested items
- Help promote Beaufort County Library services and resources at outreach events and activities
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 16 years or older and currently attending high school or higher education.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
