What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief of Clinical Services position at Beaufort Jasper?
The departments that make up Clinical Services are Ryan White/HOPWA, Parents as Teachers, Agricultural Workers Program, Behavioral Health, Radiology and Nutrition. The Chief of Clinical Services provides clinical leadership/supervision, consultation and support for these department directors as they direct operations, programs and activities for their various departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Licensed medical provider that continues to provide comprehensive, direct medical care for a patient panel in their specialty.
- Stays current in their professional field, maintains licensure and follows principles of evidence-based medicine and clinical guidelines adopted by the organization.
- Assists CMO in establishing goals, developing the organization’s policies for Clinical Services and implementing provider education around the Clinical Services Departments to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of care and service to patients.
- Assists in the development of the Clinical Services Departments budgets including staffing, support plans, and equipment needs.
- Advises on health information system and clinical informatics needs of the Clinical Services Departments.
- Develops and implements decision tools, clinical protocols and guidelines, care management programs and outcome measurement assessments with department directors.
- Participates in QI meetings, peer review sessions and special projects or activities that promote improvement in organizational performance and advance the mission, goals and objectives of the organization as necessary.
- Completes performance evaluations of the Clinical Services directors.
- Serves as a resource to the Clinical Services directors with regard to agency policies and procedures.
- Represents the organization at appropriate local, state and national organizations and other ad hoc committees as designated by the CMO.
- Attendance at community events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities
- Directly supervises 6 Clinical Services Department directors.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; and addressing complaints.
Qualifications
- Active SC Medical license; Board certified/Board eligible MD or DO primary care (IM, FM, Peds, OB/GYN or preventive medicine) Or an active SC License as Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (DScPAS), or equivalent.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a clinical, academic or administrative leadership position.
- Minimum three years’ experience in direct patient care management.
- Must have a strong community health/public health orientation and demonstrated knowledge and experience with quality infrastructure.
- Ecellent managerial, analytical, problem solving, communication and MS Office skills
- Possesses a valid South Carolina driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
