POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will play a key role providing quality dental care in our fast-growing primary care facility. The prime focus will be examining; diagnosing; and developing and implementing treatment plans for infections and injuries of the teeth and mouth. RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS
- Evaluates patients’ intraoral & peri-oral hard and soft tissue conditions, including caries, endodontic/periodontal pathology, soft tissue and developmental pathology
- Diagnoses and treats Emergency Dental situations such as toothaches, broken teeth/restorations, dislodged crown/bridges, broken off denture teeth etc.
- Develops patient treatment plan; including Preventative, endodontic, Periodontal, Restorative, Prosthetic and follow up care.
- Refers out complex Endodontic, Surgical and Periodontal treatment. Perform and complete the remaining portion of treatment plan.
- Typically, all or nearly all of the treatment plans should be done "in house".
- Proficiently performs the following services: preventative care, restorative and amalgam, single and double canal endodontic therapy, simple surgical procedures, prophylaxis, periodontal scaling & root planning, removable and fixed prosthodontics, some pediatric dentistry.
- Directly supervises assigned dental assistants
- Attends dental provider meetings and participates in case study discussions
- Provides professional consultation to other staff dentists when needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dental Director
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate from an accredited Dental School/Doctoral Degree (DDS/DMD)
- A valid SC Dental License required
- Minimum 3 years Dentist (preventive, restorative and emergency care) experience required
- DEA certificate required
- CPR certification required
- Experience with Electronic Dental Records and digital radiography required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
