Position Summary
This bilingual position is responsible for providing front desk services to patients throughout their treatment cycle. This includes educating patients about their insurance benefits, making affordable financing options available, and making the patient’s financial experience with BJHCHS a positive one. This position will ensure that all patient insurance and financial benefits and transactions are appropriately updated, understood and interpreted. This position will assist the patients with processing Medicaid eligibility forms, assessing payments, monitor and track patient accounts, as well as collect money for previous, current and future services to be provided.
Specific Duties
- Registers new patients.
- Performs income verification for new patients without insurance to see if they qualify for sliding fee.
- Performs insurance verification on all patients prior to their medical appointments; updates the system with their current benefits information.
- Obtains relevant information for primary care provider (PCP) changes.
- Conducts appointment reminder calls.
- Notifies patients, prior to their medical appointment, about their financial responsibilities (co-pays, deductibles, etc.) and insurance benefits.
- Performs patient income updates, Ensures patients are prepared and understand fees and payments they are expected to bring during their visit.
- Obtains all relevant patient and insurance data and update system to ensure all insurance and financial data is current at all times
- Meets with patients and reviews their insurance benefits.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year successful customer service experience required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Prior billing experience is a plus.
