Our Maintenance & Engineering Manager is accountable for planning, directing, and controlling all resources required for the engineering, construction, and maintenance of existing and future capital projects. This position oversees the maintenance, I&E, and engineering departments while also providing leadership and professional guidance in these areas.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the engineering, maintenance, and instrumentation & electrical teams, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
- Direct the development, planning, implementation and ongoing management of full-site improvement and preventative projects.
- Accountable for the site CAPEX initiatives, including budgeting and directing engineers in capital project execution including process design, equipment specification, start-up support and troubleshooting.
- Accountable for full-site maintenance budget including parts inventory, tools, vendor services and other maintenance-related costs.
- Manage root cause failure analysis.
- Work closely with Production and EHS teams to safely schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Develop and manage the maintenance and engineering budget, tracking expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance for troubleshooting equipment failures and effective solutions.
- Establish maintenance strategies for equipment analysis.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors for maintenance services and equipment, while also continuously evaluating vendor performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness of services.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records and documentation related to maintenance and engineering activities.
- Partner with other global businesses on projects including CAPEX and plant troubleshooting.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 10 years of progressive mechanical, instrument, electrical, or project engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment; polymers preferred.
- 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a plant environment.
- Experience managing a multimillion dollar budget.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or relevant area of study.
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or MBA preferred.
- Possession of professional certification.
- Ability to occasionally travel locally and internationally.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to partner with other department leaders to advance plant priorities and achieve results.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate and present to internal and external parties.
- Previous experience with SAP is preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to read piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and isometric drawings.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must possess knowledge of the chemical hazards of the process unit and all logic associated with the safe operation of equipment as dictated by the area of operation.
- Must be able to adhere to all rules, regulations and procedures, including those necessary to maintain required licenses, certifications and/or registrations.
- Ability to work efficiently independently and in coordination with others.
- Must be willing and able to safely, effectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructions and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
