We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records and Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining medical records in accordance with established protocols and regulations. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient information within our medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Organize, maintain, and update medical records in electronic and paper formats.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding medical recordkeeping.
- Review records for accuracy and completeness, correcting any discrepancies as necessary.
- Utilize medical terminology to accurately code and categorize patient information.
- Assist healthcare providers with accessing patient records as needed for treatment purposes.
- Implement systems for efficient retrieval and storage of medical records
- Respond to requests for information from authorized personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
- Processes Bi-weekly payroll and supplemental payrolls promptly according to State policies and procedures by checking timesheets for accuracy, entering adjustments, calculating deducts, terminal vacation/comp time payouts; verifying pay for employees on FMLA; voiding incorrect payroll checks, reissuing direct deposits or paper checks; checking Electronic Personnel Actions forms for accuracy and completeness; generating payroll/deduction registers; direct deposit setup; submitting ACH direct deposit files and reversals to the bank.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing medical records within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of healthcare compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.
