CNC Machinist/Operator
JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist works under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager to set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to fabricate precision metal parts according to specifications. This position is responsible for programming, tooling selection, and quality verification of machined components. The machinist will work with various materials to produce high-quality parts that meet engineering requirements while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up, program, and operate various CNC machines including mills, lathes, and other precision equipment
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices for each job
- Write and modify basic CNC programs using G-code and M-code programming
- Verify dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments
- Adjust machine settings to maintain part quality and consistency
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment
- Train and mentor CNC operators as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation of setups, programs, and processes
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in machining preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in CNC machining or related field
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and material properties
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and CAM software
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with quality control procedures
