Description : As a Cosmetology Instructor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our students. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive cosmetology education and training, ensuring students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their careers.

Qualifications :
5 years of Industry experience and have ODE CTE license OR5 years Industry experience and ability to obtain a CTE license within 4 years by completing the 24 hour coursework. Courswork must be started in the first 2 years of the initial license OR5 years of industry experience, possess an ODE teacher license, and complete the 12 hour CTE license pathway within 4 years. Courswork must be started in the first of 2 years of the initial licesne.assistance to complete coursework will be provided by the district upon board approval for hiringOther Requirements :
High School diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the cosmetology industry.Valid cosmetology license in the state in which the college operates.Must possess a current Instructor license.Excellent technical skills in hair, makeup, skincare, and nail care.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and industry professionals.Passion for education and the ability to inspire and motivate students.Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, techniques, and best practices.Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with a diverse student population.Organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation.Flexibility to adapt to changing curriculum needs and industry requirements.Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.Computer skills are necessary.National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology certification.Previous work experience as a cosmetology instructor.3 years working as a Cosmetologist.Experience with teaching is preferred.Exceptional interpersonal skills.Ability to handle stressful situations.Patient and understanding.Essential Functions :
Teach theoretical and practical aspects of cosmetology, including hair styling, cutting, coloring, makeup application, skincare, nail care, and other related topics.Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet industry standards.Demonstrate and supervise hands-on techniques in a classroom and salon setting.Provide individualized attention and support to students, addressing their unique needs and challenges.Help students to achieve 250 Work Based Learning Hours (WBL).Assess student performance through practical exams, written assignments, and other evaluation methods.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and regulations to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and current.Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student success and personal growth.Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to enhance the overall educational experience.Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve teaching skills and knowledge.Ensure safety of studentsTeach and evaluate the students using sound instructional practicesEffectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a good learning environment, disciplining students when necessaryPrepare clear and timely lesson plansMaintain accurate and complete records as requiredProvide guidance to students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational developmentAttend parent / teacher conferencesDistribute homework assignmentsEnsure students are learning all subject material by testing, quizzing, or evaluating student projects on a regular basisProvide complete lesson plans for substituteMake provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes before and after the instructional dayMaintain and improve professional competence by attending professional growth seminars, workshops, etc.Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of interim reports, report cards and conferencesObserve ethics of the teaching professionInstruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designatedRefer students suspected of learning disabilities for diagnosis on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as requiredAssist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conductNotify parents if student is not meeting classroom goalsTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilitiesDemonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learnersAct as teacher, facilitator and information source in subject area specialtyTeach new concepts and facilitate different activities enabling students to learn in different waysAssist in the hiring process of same subject teachers when requested and agreed uponMake contacts with the public with tact and diplomacyMaintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., home and discipline situations, medical background and family historyInteract in a positive manner with staff, students and parentsAttend meetings and in-services as requiredRefer attendance, health, and psychological emotional problems to Principal and / or Guidance CounselorAttend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc., to keep current on relevant issuesPromote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversationCreate a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of studentsFollow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined in the courses of study which have been approved by the Board of EducationOther Duties and Responsibilities :
