Activities Aide, Part-Time
4:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Provides assistance to Activities Director in the development, implementation and coordination of social and recreational programs at the Bedford County Nursing Home; does related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Work is performed under regular supervision of the Activities Director. Position requires the implementation of various resident oriented activities for the benefit of improving the social and health environment of the Home. Position has significant contact with the public and requires some independence in conducting activities and programs. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
- Leads social and recreational programs to include both group and individual activities;
- Assists in selecting reading materials, crafts, writing materials, games, etc.;
- Supervises games, crafts, musical programs, parties, church services, resident outings and other activities under the leadership of the Activities Director;
- Transports residents to and from activities;
- Provides input for resident care plan conference;
- Develops and maintains good rapport with other departments;
- Decorates facility;
- Performs preparation duties;
- Provides general assistance to nurses in attending to needs of the residents;
- Provides input in developing departmental policies and procedures;
- Performs other duties as directed;
- Implements programs which will assist in achieving and maintaining the highest level of functioning of residents;
- Implements reality orientation programs;
- Provides input into development and maintenance of records, plans, reports and evaluations of the activities program and resident participation;
- Maintains compliance with rules and regulations for licensure of nursing homes and Medicaid standards.
- Other duties as necessary.
