The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. We are seeking a skilled Facilities Operations Specialist to work as a facilities team member and assist with the maintenance and operation of the Center’s facilities management program, building maintenance, construction projects, and equipment upgrades. The Operations Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of buildings. Conducts specialized and complex facilities management work in support of operations and maintenance activities. Maintains facilities and equipment in an optimal condition and performs related work as required.
CLEAN & ACTIVE NYS DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH LESS THAN 4 POINTS.
Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assist with day-to-day operations and maintenance for BSFHC facilities. Areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to: Emergency Management, Risk Management and Compliance. Activities related to maintenance, repair and modification of equipment controls/communications, electrical/electronic systems, or mechanical devices and equipment.
- Manage fleet of vehicles including transportation schedule.
- Maintain a Queue Management System for repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with building wide projects. Assess, coordinate and complete order requests related to building maintenance.
- Responsible for accomplishing general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings and providing support to facilities maintenance trade, in compliance with government and management directives.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, electrical and HVAC maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks regularly. Maintain building appearance, including painting, safety, and limited construction.
- Manage the cleaning crew, trash removal and snow removal, maintain side walk clear of debris.
- Ensure compliance of federal, state and local laws and regulations for Facilities Management.
- Ensure proper handling of regulated waste and noninfectious waste.
- Set up and dismantle conference rooms for all meetings.
- Ensure center sidewalks and entrances are always kept free of ice and snow during the Winter and free of debris. In addition landscape has to be maintained.
- Any other Duties that may be assigned from time to time
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED. or extensive experience as handyman
- 5 years minimum experience in Facilities Operations Management, preferably in a health care environment.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License less than 4 points with satisfactory status required
- Must have at least one-year experience working in a similar capacity at another job.
- Experience in construction a plus
- Basic Computer Skills: Email, Texting, etc.
- Plumbing short of licensed trade (able to notice and report problems)
- Electricity short of licensed trade (able to notice and report problems)
- Carpentry short of licensed trade (able to make small repairs)
- Basic Mechanical knowledge (able to assembly of furniture, use of tools, power tools and equipment, small repairs, etc.)
- Custodial Skills: Cleaning, Vacuuming, Floor Care, Floor Care Equipment
- Maintenance Skills: Lite Carpentry, Lite Electrical, Lite Plumbing, Painting, etc.
Other Related Skills/Experience:
- Professionalism skills
- Flexible scheduling may be required, including weekend
- Local travel between sites may also be required.
