About the Role…

The Manufacturing Coordinator for Beech-Nut Nutrition Company, reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for supporting the supply chain team initiatives working towards business operational goals in safety, quality, cost (waste, efficiency, defects), and training. This position is instrumental in facilitating an associate-oriented, high performance workplace culture; as well as champion and create a culture of continuous development. This role will provide backup support to Production Supervisors, assisting in production supervision across all shifts as needed, with flexibility to adapt to varying schedules. The Manufacturing Coordinator role provides a unique opportunity receive valuable training and development, preparing the successful candidate for potential growth into a supervisory position. The successful candidate will work closely with managers, supervisors, planners, engineers, and hourly maintenance/production employees in achievement of these goals.

 

About the Team…

The Operations Team is comprised of diverse individuals who bring a wide breadth of knowledge and experience to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of Beech-Nut Nutrition’s LEED® certified production facility. The team implements processes and programs to optimize production capabilities, supervises production activities to ensure adherence to BNN ethics and safety procedures, develops production plans and staffing schedules, and general oversight of maintenance of the machinery and equipment. The team works collaboratively to make sure every aspect of production is running efficiently and effectively so we can continue to do what we do best – making high quality, safe, and nutritious foods for babies and toddlers!

 

About the Work Environment…

This position is located at the Amsterdam, New York LEED® certified production facility. Most job functions are performed on the manufacturing floor, an environment that requires hairnet, beard cover, safety glasses, hearing protection and lab coat. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nail polish and acrylic nails. Other personal protection equipment may be required for certain tasks. Some administrative job functions will be performed are performed in a well-lit, environmentally controlled office environment.

What You’ll Do…

Training & Development

  • Helps to develop and maintain individual learning and development plans and records for all associates. 
  • Provides weekly support to supply chain team with a list of new and existing personnel that are in-progress and/or have completed required learning. 
  • Helps ensure learning programs and initiatives are compliant with company goals and state, federal, and industry rules and regulations in partnership with Operations, Quality, Safety and Human Resources.
  • Continuously reviews, with Operations Managers, Operations documents, including but not limited to Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure training documents are up to date with the latest information.
  • Maintain the skills matrix to participate in planning learning and development activities to understand the process and skills gaps.
  • Deliver on-the-job training, guidance, and support to associates, using these interactions to identify the developmental needs of both individuals and the team.

 

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • A strong desire to work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Provide clear and effective communication with team members, management, and other key stakeholders to align efforts with business objectives and drive organizational success. 
  • Ability to plan/direct production activities and establish production priorities in line in pursuit of effective operations cost reduction.
  • Review and analysis of production, quality, and operational reports to determine cause of nonconformity and operating and/or production problems.
  • Development and execution of operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate downtime and improve product quality. 
  • Ability to develop, implement and visually display manufacturing KPIs to track performance.
  • Participate in planning and coordinating Kaizen Board activities to support the ongoing journey of continuous improvement in Manufacturing Excellence.

 

 

Supervisory Support and Leadership

  • Coordinate Townhall Meetings, ensuring clear communication of dates, agenda and necessary materials to all participants.
  • Provide back up support to Manufacturing Coordinator in adjusting personnel schedules as needed. 
  • Provide backup support to Production Supervisors, assisting in production supervision across all shifts as needed.
  • Ensure associate compliance with company policies, regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Set priorities and direct the work of associates while addressing any challenges they may face to ensure efficient operations.

What You’ll Need…

 

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred and 2 years of experience in related field.
  • Technical ability to work within highly complex and dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience with Lean principles. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Exceptional analytic, organization, tracking, and verbal and written communication skills 
  • Be detail oriented and have demonstrated ability to read, comprehend and follow written instructions.
  • The ability to work as part of a larger cross functional team and/or the ability to work independently.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, good manufacturing practices, and general safety best practices in an industrial environment
  • Experience in administering and working with a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) 
  • Strong data analytic, data mining, and data manipulation and data storytelling skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus!

Pay: The annual base salary range for this in-person role is $52,000 - $60,000. This is a salaried-exempt position.
