Beehive Science & Technology Academy is seeking an aspiring educational leader to serve as an In-Residence Assistant Principal for the secondary school (grades 6-12). The candidate will gain hands-on experience in school leadership under the mentorship of the Principal and other leaders. This preparatory one year phase will provide in-depth knowledge of school operations, STEM education, curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and student behavior management. Some tasks and projects will be assigned during this preparatory phase. After the preparatory phase concludes successfully, the candidate will start to serve as an assistant principal.
The role requires a candidate with a strong interest in fostering a positive school culture, supporting STEM education, and developing into a future school leader.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership Development & School Culture:
- Work closely with the Principal and Assistant Principal to learn how to foster a positive, inclusive school climate that promotes academic excellence and emotional well-being.
- Participate in promoting STEM education and career readiness, equipping students with skills for future success.
- Attend school functions, events, and parent meetings to build strong relationships with the school community.
- Assist Leadership in promoting positive behavior among students to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Curriculum Development & Instruction:
- Assist any given task in implementing STEM curriculum and academic programs, including CTE courses, AP courses, and Concurrent Enrollment, while gaining insights into curriculum planning.
- Observe and learn mentoring techniques to support teachers with effective STEM pedagogy, instructional strategies, and differentiation.
- Participate in data-driven decision-making to enhance student achievement and growth.
- Support the growth and development of college and career readiness programs, after school activities, and competitive clubs.
Professional Growth & Development:
- Engage in training sessions and professional development opportunities aimed at building leadership skills and STEM expertise.
- Assist in organizing professional development for secondary staff, aligning with school and state standards.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work alongside the Principal to establish strong communication with parents, teachers, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to set and achieve goals related to STEM education, student achievement, and extracurricular activities.
Student Behavior & School Safety:
- Support the Principal and Assistant Principal in implementing disciplinary policies and restorative practices.
- Assist teachers and counselors in addressing student behavior concerns and developing individual support plans.
- Participate in school safety initiatives, including emergency preparedness and maintaining a safe learning environment.
Compliance & Evaluation:
- Learn compliance protocols related to local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Shadow the Principal during evaluations of school programs, teachers, and initiatives to understand their impact on student outcomes.
Qualifications:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field required.
Experience:
- At least 5-6 years of experience in education, with a focus on middle or high school preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and STEM education.
Skills:
- Strong desire to grow into a leadership role within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, STEM curriculum, and educational best practices.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and educational technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in STEM education or participation in specialized STEM programs.
- Interest in pursuing certification in Educational Leadership or School Administration.
