Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated Behavior Technicians to join our team. The Behavior Technician will work closely with students who have various abilities and behavioral concerns in a school setting. This role involves implementing behavior intervention plans, providing direct support to students, and working collaboratively with teachers and staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Direct Student Support:
- Implement comprehensive behavior intervention plans (CBIPs) for students with various abilities and behavioral needs.
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students in the classroom, during transitions, and in other school settings.
- Assist students in developing social, academic, and life skills.
- Utilize positive reinforcement and evidence-based strategies to encourage appropriate behavior and correct maladaptive behavior.
2. Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect and record data on student behavior, progress, and response to interventions.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and other school personnel to support student needs.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors about student behavior, progress, and strategies being used.
4. Training and Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to behavior intervention and support.
5. Crisis Intervention:
- Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of safety plans for students with challenging behaviors.
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, or a related field preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Experience working with children and/or adolescents with diverse abilities and behavioral challenges.
- Interest or knowledge of behavior principles and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with special needs.
- Experience working with children is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical activities such as running, bending, lifting, and restraining (if necessary) in accordance with crisis intervention protocols.
- Capacity to work in various school environments (classrooms, playgrounds, etc.).
Work Environment:
- The Behavior Technician will work primarily within the school setting, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and playgrounds.
- The role may involve occasional off-site activities or field trips.
