Prevention Specialist/ECHO SOR Lead Staff. Full time, grant-funded Prevention Specialist/ECHO SOR Lead Staff position in the Prevention Department, focusing on opioid prevention and youth. The individual in this position will be responsible for implementing the Operation Prevention curriculum to middle and high school students in Pickens County, planning and implementing parent workshops focused on recognizing the signs of opioid misuse and communicating with their children about the risks of opioid and stimulant misuse, assisting the Director of Prevention Services in managing the Pickens County Youth Board activities to create and implement a peer-led media campaign and implementing geofencing campaigns with media partners.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in social or health sciences strongly preferred; a general liberal arts background may also be considered and one (1) year experience in prevention services is desired, preferably in the field of alcohol and drug abuse or other behavioral health area; Master’s degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be eligible to become certified as a Prevention Specialist through the South Carolina Association of Prevention Professional Advocates (SCAPPA) within 2 years of employment.
