We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team and assist with our Payroll and HR departments. This role offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development, as you will work closely with our experienced Payroll Administrator and HR Representative to gain exposure to various payroll processes and HR related tasks. You will assist in completing a full cycle of end-to-end US payroll processing in a timely manner. This position also provides sound advice and support to the company's administrators, managers, and staff on payroll-related questions. You'll also assist the HR team as needed with day to day administrative tasks.

Bachelor Degree preferred
Experience with payroll software program ( Heartland preferred)
Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
Proficient in Microsoft, Excel and Google workspace
Valid Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance
Must be willing to travel to our Regionals (Wasco and Bakersfield as needed)
Pass background check
Availability to work on site M-F 8am 5pm and some Saturdays as needed 8-2pm
Duties and Responsibilities:

Answers payroll-related questions from employees.
Checking timesheets for accuracy
Entering data into databases and spreadsheets
Handling direct deposit requests and data
Processing paper checks for distribution
Acquiring all necessary signatures to distribute payroll
Processing wage garnishments
Making adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses and commission
Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions
Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages
Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations
Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes
Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management
Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation
Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures
Year-end reconciliation, processing and issuing of W-2 forms to employees

Reviewing and monitoring employee timesheet and shift notes; making corrections as needed
Calculating payable hours, bonuses, stipends, tax withholdings, deductions, etc. as it relates to employees’ pay
Preparing and issuing earnings statements
Issuing paychecks and managing direct deposits
Monitor timesheets for employee rest and meal breaks, unapproved overtime, and GPS locations; coordinate with the HR department for corrective action as needed
Track and monitor non-billable hours; work with Scheduling department as needed
Maintaining employee and company payroll records
Providing information and answering payroll related questions from employees
Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making any wage corrections or adjustments when necessary
Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data and update employee databases
Coordinating with the HR department for employee terminations; process final pay and complete final pay paperwork
Calculating and tracking average hours worked for employees as it relates to benefit eligibility
Contribute and participate to New Hire Orientation as it relates to Payroll/Timesheets
Assisting Admin team with other tasks as it relates to Payroll
Support HR department and scheduling department as needed
