RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design of metal building systems by applying established engineering practices, model building codes, and company standards.
- Work in a team environment with estimating, sales, and drafting to define, clarify, and process projects to meet customers needs on individual projects.
- Review project plans, specifications and building code requirements.
- Convey design information to drafting, using written and verbal communication.
- Assist sales, project managers, architects, and builders to determine project requirements and proper utilization of Behlen systems to meet customer needs.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design.
- If not already licensed, work directly under licensed engineers toward licensure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B. S. Degree in Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in metal building systems design.
- Ability to demonstrate design of medium to higher complexity buildings including but not limited to cranes, mezzanines, parapets, hangar door system support.
- Proficiency with AISC, AISI, ASCE 7, and model building codes.
- P. E. Registration strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience with MBS preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
- Continuous productivity improvements without loss of accuracy or completeness, reduction of manufacturing and drafting costs, and increased ease of erection and customer value.
- Ability to manage projects beyond the design phase through project completion.
- Ability to manage several overlapping projects.
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers.
