What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Maintenance position at Bel-Air Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center?
Bel-Air Manor is a 71-bed, family-owned skilled nursing facility in Newington, Connecticut specializing in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. We are currently hiring a Director of Maintenance. Come join our team!
The responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance include but is not limited to:
- Develop and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
- Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
- Review and develop a plan of correction for maintenance deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such to the Administrator.
- Ensure that outside services are properly completed/supervised in accordance with contracts/work orders.
- Delegate a responsible staff member to act in your behalf when you are absent from the facility.
- Supervise the day-to-day maintenance functions of assigned personnel.
- Develop procedures for performing daily maintenance tasks.
- Standardize the methods in which work is accomplished.
- Schedule work assignments, prepare work schedules, etc. Revise, as necessary.
- Ensure that work schedules are followed as closely as practical.
- Ensure that painting, rework or repairing of facility equipment is accomplished in accordance with established policies.
- Meet with assigned personnel monthly to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or improving services.

Requirements:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a 12th grade education, or its equivalent.
- Must have experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance/plant related position.
- Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
- Be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of forty pounds to a minimum height of three feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of four feet.
- Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
