Position Summary
Belóved Café, a coffee and gift shop supporting the Belóved Gallery in Marble Falls, Texas, is seeking a dynamic and personable Assistant Café Manager. This role is ideal for a passionate coffee and tea enthusiast with strong leadership skills and a commitment to excellence. The Assistant Manager will oversee daily operations, foster a welcoming customer experience, and cultivate a collaborative and motivated team environment. This position upholds Belóved Café’s exceptional standards in customer service, staffing, product quality, visual merchandising, and overall operations.

As part of the Belóved Gallery tour experience, the café team will be trained to share insights about current exhibits and featured artists, enhancing guest engagement.

Key Responsibilies

Customer Experience & Team Leadership:

• Lead by example with a positive attitude and genuine desire to connect with customers.

Operational Efficiency:

• Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure seamless functionality.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels, placing timely orders to maintain supplies.
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of all coffee equipment and facilities.
• Create and manage staff schedules to guarantee optimal coverage while addressing call-outs promptly.
• Perform quality checks on all beverages to maintain consistent product standards.

Training & Development:

• Lead training sessions for team members on café procedures, drink recipes, and customer service protocols.
• Keep the team informed on updates regarding the Belóved Gallery exhibit to enhance customer interactions.
• Promote a culture of growth, ensuring team members feel supported and valued in their roles.

General Duties:

• Regularly monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Assist with visual merchandising of retail products and displays.
• Complete additional duties as assigned to support the café’s success.
• Foster a culture of exceptional customer service by motivating, training, and mentoring team members.
• Ensure new hires receive thorough onboarding and continuous training to set them up for success.
• Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback, celebrating achievements and offering guidance for improvement.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized café environment that reflects Belóved Café’s standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience & Skills:

• Previous experience as an Assistant Café Manager or Barista is preferred.
• Extensive hands-on experience with professional coffee and espresso equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management processes.
• Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

Education:

• College education preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of retail or food service management experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, move, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Capability to stand and move for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
