A NX Model-Based Enterprise Principal Engineer job is currently available at Belcan in Windsor, CT 06118. This is a full-time direct position with benefits. To be considered, you will need 10 years of product definition experience including 3 years of experience leading Model Based Definition (MBD) digital transformations. As a NX MBE Principal Engineer you will support customer initiatives with subject matter expertise on MBD practices that maximize data reusability in consumption workflows. You will be joining our experts on the Digital Solutions Lead Team, delivering capabilities to meet our customers" growing needs in digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work will be performed remotely.
* Travel to customer sites or internal meetings will be required (30-40%)
* Lead the customer through baselining and documenting current-state MBD authoring, validation, and consumption standards, tools, and training
* Lead the customer through short-, middle-, and long-term MBD development and maturity planning
* Develop, test, and document MBD authoring best practices for Siemens NX CAD/Teamcenter PLM systems to:
o align with industry standards (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.41, ASME Y14.47, QIF)
o modernize 2D drawing approaches for MBD while accounting for all MBD data elements (geometry, annotations, metadata, product characteristics, view states, arrangements)
o create a complete and accurate Bill of Characteristics using QIF as a framework
o maximize downstream digital interoperability to facilitate automated consumption in manufacturing and quality workflows
o comply with the end-user's contractual requirements.
* Engage with software vendors in the evaluation, development, debugging, and evolution of MBD authoring and validation software
* Design and participate in pilots that explore definition approaches, manufacturing and inspection data re-use, machine and software interoperability.
* Plan, develop and provide guided training and mentorship for MBD authoring, validation, and consumption
* Develop and deliver internal and customer-facing presentations and documentation using MS Office and other methods for clear communication
* Be an active participant in the broader MBE ecosystem; maintain fresh knowledge of solution maturation and evolution; document external best practices and benchmarking; engage with technology providers, industry working groups (e.g. DMSC, ASME, PDES), CAD user groups (e.g. Siemens NX User Group), and standards development organizations
Required Qualifications:
* US Citizenship
* Active security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance
* Bachelor's Degree in a mechanical design or engineering discipline.
* 10 years of product definition experience including 3 years MBD application experience in Siemens NX
* 3 years of experience leading significant aspects of MBD transformation across people, process and tools
* Experience/knowledge of industry standards developed for, or supportive of MBD (ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.41, AMSE Y14.47, QIF, MIL-STD-31000)
* Advanced knowledge of GD&T and its application with respect to MBD
* Experience/knowledge of MBD software landscape (CADIQ, Capvidia, Anark, BCTI, Elysium)
* Experience/knowledge of MBD interoperable formats (3DPDF, HTLM5, STEP, QIF, JT)
* Possess a growth mindset with personal desire to learn and create solutions
* Strong communication skills including framing value and relating new concepts to others
* Ability to learn new technologies and identify applications to solve business challenges
* Broad experience working horizontally across functional organizations such as engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and information technology
* Ability to influence and build consensus among executives, other leaders, and engineers
* Ability to remotely collaborate with a team of experts based in various locations throughout the US
Desired Qualifications:
* ASME Y14.5 GD&T Certification
* Experience/knowledge of Siemens NXOpen programming
* Experience/knowledge of MBD application in CAD systems other than NX (CREO, CATIA and Solidworks)
* Working knowledge of Siemens NX software license packages (FiberSIM, Mechanical Routing, Electrical Routing, PMI Advisor, Check-Mate, Tolerance Analysis)
* Experience with Lean & Agile practices
* Organizational Change Management, specifically managing adoption and resistance to new ways or working
Compensation:
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $130,000-190,000, however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
