What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialty / Activity Counselor position at Belen Summer Camp?
QUALIFICATIONS :
At least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma
Accredited college work in Education, Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
Work experience in a structured environment preferred.
JOB GOAL :
Plan, organize, and teach a specific skill or activity to a variety of groups on a daily basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS :
He / She is responsible for the safety of all staff members and campers assigned to the activity.
He / She supervises, monitors, participates and teaches a specific skill or activity such as arts and crafts, sports, dance and rec room.
He / She provides positive feedback to campers to help them master the activity.
He / She guides campers towards excellence.
He / She supervises, monitors, and participates in the end of camp show.
He / She must model appropriate Christian behavior at all times.
He / She evaluates the counselors assigned to their activity group.
He / She must attend weekly after camp meetings.
He / She will complete other duties assigned by the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director(s).
REPORTS TO :
The Specialty / Activity Counselor reports directly to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s).
EVALUATION :
The Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director(s) will evaluate the Specialty / Activity Counselor weekly. The evaluation will be based on successfully completing the responsibilities listed above.
