Water Damage Specialist - Advanced
The Water Damage Specialist - Advanced is an expert in drying and repairing residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, and their contents. They serve as key resources for BELFOR locally, regionally, and nationally, with expertise in electronics, machinery management, books, documents, and specialized drying techniques. They are responsible for assessing large losses, specifying heat and desiccant drying systems, managing drying equipment’s electrical demand, and determining temporary energy needs. Proficient in reading plans and integrating HVAC systems to enhance drying, they can lead multiple teams during CAT situations and assume significant production responsibility. This is a level 4 position, the highest in the Water Damage progression.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the use of proper PPE.
- Review project requirements, document progress, and report challenges to managers.
- Provide field documentation, including photos, charts, and sketches for TPA projects.
- Create sketches, read plans, develop humidity content records, and determine drying objectives.
- Assess electrical consumption, connect drying equipment to power sources, and manage temporary energy needs.
- Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections.
- Ensure adherence to BELFOR standards and safeguard property.
- Deliver excellent customer service and meet deadlines.
- Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Track and report time worked, equipment usage, and consumables.
- Attend BELFOR operations and required security training.
Requirements
- Supervise and manage Water Damage Basic and Intermediate tasks.
- Lead large loss sites and specialized remediation tasks.
- Create moisture maps using available tools.
- Manage multiple crews across multiple projects.
- Choose appropriate disposal methods and obtain liability release for disposed items.
Qualifications
- Proficient with meters, IR cameras, and building materials/contents assessments.
- Understanding of air mover calculations, LGR dehumidification, electrical power specifications, and circuits.
- Skilled with HydroSensor, Thermal Hygrometer, NavPro Moisture Meter, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license as per BELFOR’s vehicle policy.
- Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and urgency.
- English literacy and fluency.
Physical Demands
- Lifting in excess of 50 lbs
- Occasional lifting (41-50 lbs), assisted (up to 50% of the time).
- Ability to maneuver in tight spaces.
- Periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
- Use of mobile devices for data collection.
