Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Specialist to join our team, focusing on providing support and assistance in various areas related to child welfare, social work, and crisis intervention.
Responsibilities
Visitation specialist Will perform duties including, but not limited to:
Implement the visitation plan designed by the DCFS caseworker/supervisor and documented in the family service plan.
Completes transportation and visitation for child/family visits (parents-child/sibling) to assist Family members maintain bonds and connections due to out of home placement.
Focus on helping the child (ren) and parent (s) participate in appropriate activities: modeling desired parenting skills and observing parent-child interactions.
Help to structure the visit to allow positive closure.
Plan and discuss plans for the next visit ensuring a sense of predictability for both child (ren) and parent (s).
Assess the family strength and needs, as well as the risk of harm to the child/children during the visit, monitoring safety, and immediately reporting incidents involving harm or risk of harm to children.
Maintains contact with families through regular and planned visitation for parents and children·
Works with DCFS regional offices to coordinate visits and approved and safe settings.
Travels daily, to provide supervision services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
Completes the visiting record document on the appropriate form for each visit and that the form is completed correctly.
Completes all required training in a timely manner.
Actively participates in the weekly supervision process and mandatory meetings.
Skills
- Proficient in conflict management and crisis management techniques
- Experience in motivational interviewing and crisis intervention
- Knowledge of child protective services and social work practices
- Familiarity with childcare and child welfare principles
- Understanding of family law and its application in child welfare cases
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Two years of work experience working in direct service with youth and families strongly preferred.
- Reliable transportation
- The willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours.
- Capacity to be flexible and responsive.
- Capacity to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
- Proficient use of laptop/desktop computers, Calls and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers, software including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs.
Must maintain state required full coverage insurance on vehicles used for transportation.
