Believers, a contemporary, non-denominational church located in the heart of Hampton Roads Virginia, is looking for a team member with strong administrative, accounting, and organizational skills to support the Controller and the finance team’s responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, handling A/R, A/P, credit card reconciliations and monthly journal entries. This position can be either part- or full-time depending on your schedule. Most work will be in the church office in Suffolk, VA but some remote work may be allowed. Responsibilities
- Manage daily contributions (weekly Sunday donations as well as daily online giving).
- Maintain weekly giving records, and process quarterly giving statements.
- Prepare, process, and manage payables, ensuring that required documentation is maintained.
- Bi-Monthly reconciliation of credit card bills, ensuring that all transactions are properly classified and entered in QuickBooks and that supporting documentation has been provided.
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions for related entities.
- Learn to run payroll on a bi-weekly schedule and be the backup for this task as needed.
- Support annual external review by pulling documentation and other tasks as required.
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
- Assist Controller to compile, analyze and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for use by both management and board of directors.
- Handle questions and requests from staff members.
- Special projects as needed to support the CFO, Controller, or other finance team members.
Qualifications
- Desirable to have 5 years of experience in the accounting field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skill.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and QuickBooks Online
- Ability to own your responsibilities and look for ways to improve processes.
Salary : $18 - $25
