Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized bookkeeper to join our Believers Church team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and providing essential support for financial reporting. Additionally, the ideal candidate would love church, have a passion for the mission, and love the community! This role requires a strong understanding of debits and credits, as well as proficiency in various accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation of bank statements
- Record and update weekly contributions
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Utilize financial software such as Shelby for efficient bookkeeping
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for leadership review
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and information
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data
Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Familiarity with church accounting practices is a plus
- Strong knowledge of debits, credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
- Proficiency in using financial software, particularly Shelby systems
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
