Corporate Controller

Reporting to the CFO, the Corporate Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health and operations of the organization. This position ensures the accuracy of all financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory standards, while also managing the company's accounting functions across multiple business units and locations. The Corporate Controller leads a team of accounting professionals, providing strategic financial guidance to the executive leadership team, and collaborating with other departments to support business growth and operational efficiency. With a strong focus on internal controls, financial forecasting, and team development, the Corporate Controller plays a critical role in safeguarding the company’s financial assets and driving strategic financial decisions. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and leadership, as well as the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements).
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, consolidating financial statements across various business units and locations.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Prepare detailed financial forecasts, budgeting, and cash flow projections for the company.
- Analyze financial data, trends, and provide key driver commentary to executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant reporting standards.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Oversee internal audits, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Review existing, and make recommendations to develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and ensure adherence to tax laws and reporting requirements.
- Manage year-end audits, working closely with external auditors to facilitate smooth processes.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of regulatory and tax reports as required.
Accounting Operations Management:
- Supervise a team of accounting professionals (direct and indirect reports), including training, performance management, and task allocation.
- Collaborate with leadership to assess financial performance and provide guidance on key financial decisions.
- Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and financial reporting.
Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., sales, operations, etc) to provide financial support and guidance on business decisions.
- Collaborate on budgeting, cost analysis, and process improvements across the company.
- Facilitate communication with external stakeholders, including vendors, partners, and auditors.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, ensuring clear communication of responsibilities and expectations.
- Foster a collaborative work environment, focusing on staff development and process improvements.
- Lead recruitment efforts, hire and retain talent for the accounting department.
- Provide regular feedback, including performance evaluations and career development opportunities for the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- 10 years of professional accounting experience, including 5 years in a managerial role.
- Previous experience working in a Private Equity-sponsored company is preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software Microsoft Business Central preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing multi-location operations
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills:
- CPA certification is ideal.
- Experience in internal audit, regulatory compliance, and multi-business entity consolidations.
- Familiarity with payroll systems, tax regulations, and HR processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
Salary : $140,000 - $175,000
