Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client recruit their next Sr. Payroll Specialist. Responsible for managing the accurate and time-sensitive weekly payroll process. This includes ensuring all weekly timesheets are approved, reviewing for accuracy, error reconciliation, problem resolution, and final processing of union and nonunion payroll. Will also handle, support, or provide back-up for other departmental functions including accounts payable, employee expense statements, and other needs typical of a small accounting/finance function.
Responsibilities
- Each week, review employee timesheets for completeness and accuracy, following up with supervisors and managers as needed.
- Conduct systematic reviews to ensure accuracy and necessary approvals.
- Completes the full processing of payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreement requirements.
- Processes all related payroll information including unemployment, certified payrolls, ACH transfers, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions and other changes.
- Other duties as assigned included fringe benefits, accounts payable, employee expense statement management, and other departmental requirements.
Requirements
- Four-year degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience with complex payroll processing.
- Direct experience with union payroll, fringe benefits, and Certified Payroll Reporting.
- Previous experience in a construction industry accounting department is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll complexities including garnishments, per diems, expense reimbursement, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or Acumatica or similar modern-era accounting software is preferred.
- Experience with EKG/Kronos is preferred.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Reliability, consistency, tenacity, and the ability to meet deadlines is required.
- Strong interpersonal, team player, and communication skills required.
