What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Bell Lumber & Pole Company?
Our Estimators collect all pertinent data for quoting and order placement for Bell Structural Solutions, the arm of our company who specializes in engineered laminated wood structures customized for
electrical utilities, telecom and other equipment.
You will be responsible for utilizing order specifications and software to prepare timely and accurate estimates of raw materials needed to complete projects. You are an important voice to and from the customer on changes and necessary paperwork, as well as customer service relations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Maintain strong relationships with our customers and vendors,
- Create accurate estimates for simple to moderate quotes/orders including pricing, acknowledgements, details, and amendments,
- Ensure completeness, clarity, and accuracy of all estimates, quotes and order specifications,
- Use your sound judgement and company resources to analyze, resolve and provide answers to customer issues and questions,
- Respond timely to customer, staff and vendor requests and inquiries,
- Track sales data via our CRM,
- Performs any other inside sales-related assignments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school or equivalent
Experience: 1 years of experience in estimating, designing/drafting or related role; 1-2 years’ experience in a customer service or inside sales role preferred.
SKILLS BASED REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree preferred.
- Previous estimating experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Reading and understanding blueprints.
- AutoCAD experience a plus.
- Strong communication, people skills, and ability to multitask.
- Team player with the ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and ownership.
- Organized with good attention to detail.
- Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with CRM systems preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to use the computer for extended periods of time in a sitting or standing position. Ability to work under time constraints and ability to work in a face paced work environment. When visiting a plant, the employee will need to be able to be on their feet for an extended period. Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving products, minimum of 25 lbs. Exposure to varying types of climates. Outside environment can be dusty & noisy. Equipment & treated lumber may emit fumes. Moderate travel required.
