What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Equipment Operator - 1st Shift position at Bell Lumber & Pole Company?
The purpose of the Mobile Equipment Operator is to operate and maintain terminal equipment in a safe and efficient manner while unloading/loading customer’s products into/out of rail car, or truck.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- The ability to operate mobile equipment such as Log Loaders and Front End Loaders.
- Operate and maintain the following equipment:
- Log Loaders
- Front end loaders
- Forklifts
- Ability to understand written documents for proper handling of the customers products.
- Understand basic safe use of shop tools.
- Having the ability to maintain communication with co-workers concerning their operational needs.
- Achieve and maintain a basic understanding of how all the operating systems function/interact and independently perform effective trouble shooting during equipment malfunctions.
- Startup and shutdown of equipment.
- Learn to perform annual and other scheduled maintenance on equipment.
- Understand OSHA safety rules and work in compliance with the Bell Timber safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Identify and report any and all unsafe working conditions.
- Ability to read and understand equipment startup procedures, operation procedures, shutdown procedures, and maintenance manuals.
- Perform all work in compliance with company standards and procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Experience operations in log handling including long poles helpful.
- Experience operating mobile equipment including log loaders & frontend loaders.
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside.
